Maxis Home - High Speed Broadband Service

Ref. No: VWC/JMB/N/017-11
Date: 24 October 2011

Dear Residents,

We are pleased to announce that the JMC are in discussion with Maxis regarding the installation of fibre optic cables and associated infrastructure at Villa Wangsamas which will enable residents to subscribe to the Maxis Home High Speed Broadband (HSBB).

In addition, Maxis are finalising their IPTV plans. Although no confirmation has been given, it is likely that the IPTV content provider will be Astro which will include the Astro Beyond HDTV service.

Maxis will supply and install the entire infrastructure to every floor at no cost to the JMB. Should owners wish to subscribe, Maxis will then connect to the individual units. Any agreement/contract will be between each individual owner and Maxis, similar to the current arrangement with Astro or TM. The existing infrastructure (centralised dish) will not be touched and will still be in service.

A technical survey/inspection has been carried out by Maxis and the report is available in the management office. All residents (those with no outstanding balance only) may view the report from today until Saturday 29th October.

Those with objections must lodge them with the management office directly or via email to the JMC at vwm.jmc@gmail.com before 30 Oct 2011. If there are no objections, the JMC will give the approval to proceed.

Thank you.

On Behalf of the JMC,

Hirman Falani Bin Mohd Affandi
Chairman

  1. i'd prefer that JMC discusses the possibility of having astro beyond at VW. i'm pretty sure astro has the facilities for common HD satellite dish (i know for a fact that some hotels provide shared HD channels). as per my experience, maxis HSBB isn't stable with mediocre customer svc. plus, we'll incur more expenses switching to maxis IPTV when we already have astro n unifi subscribed.

  2. We are looking at all options however the Maxis proposal is very good because there is zero cost to the JMB. The Chairman has recently taken over the discussions around the Satellite upgrade form the management office and we hope to have conformation soon from Astro on whether they will subsidise the upgrade.

Please understand this is not a small job because the whole block would need to be rewired which could be very costly.

  3. thank u for ur efforts. i'm just concerned that astro SD will eventually b replaced by astro HD n we'r stuck here just because we can't have the satellite dish. plus, my new LED TV is wasted. :-)
