ReplyDeleteFirst and foremost, thank you for all your efforts.
I have read your minutes and is curious on clause 2.8, whereby SPM is to arrange a meeting with SYABAS to discuss on having individual water meters.
My queries are
1. Why are we changinig to individual meter by syabas? Is it more cost effective for the Management?
2. By doing so, wouldn't the Management be giving up a powerful tool that can be used to punish defaulters, rules breakers etc.....
3. Is it a legal requirement?
I would very much appreciate if the Management or JMC could answer my questions.

We are proposing to change for several reasons.
ReplyDelete1.It should mean cheaper water for many residents
2.The large overhead of reading 1300+ meters every month will be removed from the management office
3.At the moment we have to pay for the water then claim back the money from the residents. Due to late payment this means that we have to fund the difference.
4.There maybe legal issues with management office cutting water and we are checking this. There are several other ways that late payers can be tackled and we will publish details soon.
By switching to individual meters, all residents will be personally responsible to pay for their usage.
ReplyDeleteShould they fail to pay, they will have to answer to Syabas who has the authority to cut off the supply.
The current arrangement leaves the JMC helpless if any resident defaults on their payment as the JMC cannot touch the meters (property of Syabas).
